Fireworks a low priority for Modesto police

July 2, 2013

I'm really tired of The Modesto Bee insulting the intelligence of the Modesto community or those who actually read this paper.

Illegal fireworks are a problem in Modesto every single year. Yet, The Bee continues to publish the veiled threat that the Modesto Police Department and other law enforcement agencies are going to stop people from using bottle rockets and M-80 firecrackers and the like.

I've lived in Modesto for 35 years and when you call them, they just take a note on 911 or the nonemergency number and hang up.

Please stop printing this lie to the public. You are grossly misleading the public.

Second, come to my neighborhood and try calling the police on the Fourth of July, not to mention all the automatic weapons fire. It's a complete waste of time.

Oh, and, by the way, it's not even the Fourth of July yet and at 11:10 p.m. there were people shooting bottle rockets, keeping my family up.
