Opinions sought on ACE train plans

July 1, 2013

There's a plan to extend ACE train service to Modesto, Turlock and Merced. The expanded Altamont Commuter Express route would open within five years using existing Union Pacific tracks.

It would enable people to catch a train in downtown Modesto and ride it all the way to San Jose, with stops along the way for transfers to BART. Six round trips per day are planned.

Is taking a train to the Bay Area an option you would use? How would such train service change your life? Do you think the ACE train would make Modesto, Turlock and Merced a more desirable place to live and do business?
