Hot day for cowboy polo in Ceres

local@modbee.comJune 29, 2013

— The charity Cowboy Polo Tournament held its inaugural run Saturday, starting at a sultry 7 p.m. instead of 4 for the safety of the horses.

At the originally appointed hour, the Diamond Bar Arena in Ceres was shimmering in 106-degree heat.

The event raised money for two charities: Second Chances California, a program for retired racehorses that also helps probationers gain job skills, and the Boots & Saddles riding program for veterans.
