Heavy traffic expected on the Fourth

June 29, 2013

Law enforcement are advising Merced County motorists that traffic will be particularly impacted in the area near Castle Commerce Center the evening of July 4, because of expected high attendance at the Fourth of July fireworks celebration.

Roads subject to stop and go traffic will be Santa Fe Drive from Franklin Road to Winton Way. Additional affected traffic areas will included Buhach Road, from Highway 99 to Santa Fe Drive, in addition to Bellevue Road from Santa Fe Drive into the city of Atwater, according to Deputy Delray Shelton, spokesman for the Merced County Sheriff's Department.

Traffic will likely be impacted between the hours of 5:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. Drivers should consider taking alternative routes, especially around 10 p.m., when a high volume of people will be leaving the fireworks show, Shelton said.
