Vehicle emissions event set for Saturday

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and Valley Clean Air Now will hold a Tune In And Tune Up car cleanup at the Stanislaus County Fairground on Saturday.

The vehicle emissions event, from 9 a.m. to3 p.m., identifies and helps repair older, out-of- tune vehicles that hurt air quality throughout the valley.

On Saturday, Turlock-area drivers who have had their cars for at least six months will receive a free vehicle emissions test.

If the vehicle doesn't pass, but can be repaired, a voucher for up to $500 in emission-related repairs at a participating STAR- certified smog check station will be provided. There also will be a car- care clinic and health and safety fair at the fairground, with educational booths by nonprofit agencies.

Additionally, there will be music and free food. To learn more, email TITUEvent@valley-can.org or call (800) 806-2004.
