Driver hurt in Copperopolis crash

June 21, 2013

— A 25-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday after his car flipped and landed on a barbed-wire fence in Copperopolis, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Nickolas Riviore of Copperopolis suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center, according to the CHP.

The crash occurred about noon on O'Byrnes Ferry Road, south of Reeds Turnpike.

The CHP said Riviore was driving a 2000 Toyota Solaris, heading south about 40 mph, when the car turned right and went off the road. It went over a dirt road shoulder and crashed into an embankment. The impact caused the car to flip and land on its top on the barbed-wire fence.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash.
