Modesto's older parks need repair

June 19, 2013

My husband and I bought a house a few years ago near the Wesson Ranch park. We were excited to have a park nearby as we have grandchildren who visit often.

Unfortunately, it has turned out to be more of a liability than an asset. The playground equipment is rusty and where slides have worn out, there are sheets of wood attached.

We talk about making our city a better place to live in, then give the little ones (and there are a lot of children living in this area) a place to play that is not safe. There is more to this city than just the downtown area that needs to be renovated.

I have been told there is no money, but many, many parks in the poorer parts of this town have new playground equipment. Please let us, as neighbors here, know if there is anything we can do to make this happen.
