Ripon charter school also sees first class graduate

— California Connections Academy @ Ripon, an online K-12 public charter school, celebrated its first graduating class. The school opened in August 2012 and draws students from eight counties.

Its seven graduates include Alessandro Vasquez of Modesto and Sierra Guevara of Escalon. The graduation ceremony was June 6 at the Spring Creek Golf and Country Club in Ripon.

Ripon Unified School District Superintendent Louise Johnson and California Connections Academy founding board member Tim Batiuk attended, and school Principal Don Ogden addressed graduates.

California Connections Academy students complete courses online, including Advanced Placement and Juilliard e-learning music courses. It offers school-sponsored events, field trips and clubs.

The Ripon school enrolls students from Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Santa Clara and Stanislaus counties.
