OAKDALE — Oakdale first responders police, fire and emergency medical crews are holding specialized safety training from 8 a.m. to noon today at Oakdale Junior High School.
The training is in response to "the tragic events that periodically have occurred across the country, including school shootings," according to an alert sent by the Oakdale Joint Unified School District.
It will be a simulated "active shooter scenario" to help prepare emergency service agencies to respond to a school shooting or other crisis situation.
The district wanted to alert the public that "this is a training session and not an actual event. We want our families to be aware so that there is no stress or anxiety that students' safety is at risk."
