Brink of Manteca's East Union ties for 19th at state golf tourney

June 12, 2013

— Will Brink made his appearance Wednesday at the 2013 CIF Boys Golf Championship worth the trip.

The East Union High senior earned a top-20 finish by posting four birdies, including a stretch of three in five holes, to finish tied for 19th with a 3-over 74 at Quail Lodge Golf Course.

Brink found trouble on the back nine after playing even through his first four holes. He went over par on three of his final five holes on the back nine, including a double bogey, to sit at 4-over at the turn.

Brink recovered nicely though, closing with three birdies in his 13th through 17th holes. He had back-to-back birdies on the par-4 7th and the 216-yard, par-3 8th.

Jack Chung of Sunny Hills (Fullerton) High School was medalist with a 5-under 66. Stevensen School (Pebble Beach) won the team title.
