Lions All-Star Football Game on Saturday

June 11, 2013

Practices have begun in preparation for the 40th annual Lions All-Star Football Game, featuring the best high school players of the Stanislaus District, Saturday night at 7 o'clock at Modesto Junior College Stadium.

The South All-Stars, who are working out at Cal State Stanislaus, are led by former Downey quarterback Aaron Zwahlen and running backs Rey Vega (Central Catholic) and James Sams (Los Banos). Coaching the South is Buhach Colony's Kevin Swartwood.

The North, training at the University of the Pacific, will be coached by Jason Weatherby of Calaveras. Sierra running back Anthony Cota and Escalon tackle Alan Gonzalez are among the North standouts. The North, with wins in eight of the last nine years, leads the series 24-14-1. Visit www.lionsallstarfootball.com for more information.
