Info: Tweens and teens ages 9 through 18 can participate in an afternoon of fun. During this t(w)een event, participants can make paper airplanes, test paper airplanes in derby races, and learn tactics and teamwork while playing fun Wii games. Participating in this program provides teens and tweens with the opportunity to interact with their peers, be creative with various crafts, and learn about the wonderful programs the Stanislaus County Library offers. Info: The City of Merced is partnering with the Central Valley Red Cross to host a pool party celebrating the opening of the pool for the summer season. Swimming will be free, with the cost being paid for by the Red Cross. The party begins with a free hot dog feed at noon and the pool will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will also be a Community Fair that afternoon, with an extra emphasis on pool and water safety. Information booths set up and activities available for kids. The Merced Fire Department will have an engine on display and the City will have its plans there to show how the park will be renovated. A number of other groups and organizations will also have booths at the event. The pool will be continue to be open for recreation swimming the rest of the summer from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. The last day of swimming will be Aug. 11.
