TURLOCK — Come the holidays, Turlockers could be lacing up their ice skates.
A proposed ice skating rink was approved by the Turlock Planning Commission last week. The rink, which would be built and operated by R.A.M. Farms, which has a seasonal pumpkin patch at Daubenberger Road and Canal Drive in the fall.
The owners hope to extend their season by adding the winter attractions of a Christmas tree lot and ice skating rink. The rink would be 60-feet by 80-feet and lighted. The winter attractions would be open starting the day after Thanksgiving until early January. The rink would be open noon to 8 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekends.
R.A.M. Farms is owned by Turlock Irrigation District Director Ron Macedo. The permit for the new additions was approved last Thursday by the Planning Commission. There is currently no permanent rink in Turlock.
