Beyer's Chamberlain leads East to All-Star victory

June 8, 2013

— Beyer High's Josh Chamberlain doubled home two runs in the sixth inning to extend the East's lead during its 5-2 win over the West in the 24th Modesto Sunrise Rotary Baseball Classic on Saturday night at John Thurman Field.

The East all-stars' outstanding player was Ceres' Jim Pernetti, who went 3-for-4 and scored a run. The West's top honor went to Turlock pitcher Tyler Murphy, who struck out four and blanked the East during the first two innings.

An estimated 800 watched as all-stars from 22 high schools took part.
