Running gives him second family

May 30, 2013

So, moving on from my first year in cross country last fall as a freshmen at Thomas Downey High School has been an amazing journey for me and I joined the track distance team in the spring and participated in the frosh/soph 800-meter events.

The season is over and the reason I'm writing this letter is to express something really special in our track distance team. We have the best two coaches ever, Jana Osgood and Paulo Carvalho. What makes this team really special is the team itself, and the good motivation from our wonderful coaches. The coaches gave me the strength, the hope and the courage to keep pressing forward. This team is like a second family. Everyone encourages each other and helps each other out.

Sadly, there are really good people who are graduating this year and moving on, but the feeling of family still will remain in track distance and cross country. Keep your heads up high, runners. Never let the fear of losing keep you from finishing the race!
