Modesto City Council decides against tightening 'Tin Cup'

local@modbee.comMay 30, 2013

— The Modesto City Council has decided not to tighten the "Tin Cup" campaign finance ordinance that requires council members and the mayor not to vote on matters involving donors who have given them $3,000 or more over 48 months to $2,000 for the mayor and $1,000 for council members.

Modesto resident and blogger Emerson Drake had requested the lower amounts

Mayor Garrad Marsh and Councilmen Dave Geer and John Gunderson voted Tuesday night for a lower limit, while Councilmen Dave Lopez, Joe Muratore and Dave Cogdill Jr. and Councilwoman Stephanie Burnside voted against changing the limit.
