Crackdown pays off in DUI arrests in Stanislaus County

The Memorial Day weekend crackdown by the Avoid the 12 Stanislaus County DUI Campaign has resulted in a big increase compared with last year in arrests from routine traffic enforcement and Avoid the 12 deployments.

From midnight Thursday through Sunday, officers representing 12 county law enforcement agencies arrested 26 people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In 2012, four DUI arrests occurred in the same period. As of Monday afternoon, there were no alcohol-related fatalities.

DUI arrest data collection continued through midnight Monday.
