Thank you to the reader (Letters, May 15) who again reminded us all of the information on health care costs found in the article by Steven Brill, Time magazine, March 4, 2013. Brill seems to be the only one asking why medical bills are so high. All other efforts are aimed at raising any amount of money to pay them.
A few questions:
Why does the CEO of Sutter Health in Northern California earn $5 million?
Why do other CEOs of nonprofits earn seven-figure salaries?
Why do nonprofit hospitals earn a profit of 25 percent yearly?
Why are these hospitals buying private practices and hospitals with their profits?
The negotiations from insurers are losing leverage here.
Check it out.
