The Modesto Nuts’ offense went quiet on Sunday, managing just six scattered singles in a 4-0 shutout loss to Visalia at John Thurman Field.

The Nuts (19-24) are now just 2-5 against Visalia (27-16) this season.

Tom Belza broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth with a two-out RBI double to put the Rawhide in front and they never looked back.

Modesto starter Ben Alsup (3-4), who lasted seven innings, took the loss after giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits.
