Modesto Nuts offense remains stagnant against Bakersfield Blaze

local@modbee.comMay 13, 2013

— Ryan Casteel’s two-run double in the third inning was the only scoring the Modesto Nuts could muster on Monday in a 5-2 loss to the Bakersfield Blaze.

Casteel’s two-out drive scored Tim Smalling and Taylor Featherston, but those proved to be the lone runs against Blaze starter James Allen and two relievers.

Nuts starter Ben Alsup (3-3) took the loss, allowing five runs over five innings. Alsup gave up two home runs.

The Nuts are off today, then open a homestand against Lake Elsinore on Wednesday.
