Shot fired at deputies in south Modesto

May 9, 2013

— A Modesto woman was arrested on suspicion of shooting a gun in the direction of two Stanislaus County sheriff's deputies who were responding to a call in south Modesto early Thursday, authorities said.

The deputies were responding to a call of shots fired and someone yelling in the 1600 block of Seattle Street at 4:15 a.m. when the incident occurred, deputy Royjindar Singh said.

"As they were walking up to the house, they could see people inside the house looking out at them," he said.

The deputies took cover behind a car and a fence. "While the deputies were outside, they heard a single round being shot in their direction."

The deputies called for backup. Authorities set up a perimeter and then ordered the people inside the house to come out.

Alisza Williams, 34, was arrested on suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm. Nobody was hurt in the shooting or in the original call.
