The State Board of Equalization will host its annual Taxpayers' Bill of Rights-required public hearing May 22 in Sacramento.

The hearing starts at 1:30 p.m. in Room 121 at BOE's headquarters, 450 N St.

Under the Taxpayers' Bill of Rights, BOE holds annual public hearings on business and property taxes, hearing taxpayers' suggestions, comments and concerns.

Speaker time is limited, and taxpayers with complex issues are being asked to submit written descriptions to BOE before the hearing and then summarize the issues at the hearing.

Taxpayers who want to ask questions, submit documents or make a presentation can call the BOE Taxpayers' Rights Advocate Office at (888) 324-2798, or click the "email" link at www.boe.ca.gov/info/contra.htm .

Another public hearing will be held July 17 at the BOE district office in Culver City.
