Modesto's Jon Olsen arrived Tuesday in Holland after a long plane ride from San Francisco.

He's still battling a sore right hip — unwelcome news with the International Association of Ultrarunners 24-hour World Championships only days away. Olsen, 38, is one of five members on the U.S. men's team.

"The pain is still there and after an easy six-mile run; my right hip and glute were very tight," Olsen wrote via email. "It just leaves this ongoing doubt in my head, but I'm trying to keep the faith. I will meet up with team in Burgen Op Zoom, an hour train ride away. And the first person I will see is Doc Lovy and his students in hopes to get this muscle tightness remedied by race day."

To keep up with Olsen's travels, check out his daily blog at www.modbee.com/sports.
