MODESTO — Catherine Everett Elementary will have a 50th anniversary celebration Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. on the blacktop at the school, 1530 Mount Vernon Drive, Modesto.
The celebration, planned in conjunction with the school's annual open house, will include a photo display, dance performance and displays in all classrooms. The community is invited to attend.
Throughout the school year, staff and students marked the anniversary by giving back to the community that has supported the school for 50 years.
In January, staff and students collected hats, gloves and scarves to donate to the Children's Crisis Center. Many of the donations were hand-made.
In February, students made valentines for The Stratford at Beyer Park Assisted Living Community.
Dedicated in 1962, the school was named after longtime community volunteer Catherine Everett.
