Stanislaus golf tied at regionals

Cal State Stanislaus golfer Paul Smith shot a four-under par in the opening round of the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regionals on Monday in Dupont, Wash., to lead the Warriors to a tie for fourth place.

Cal State Stanislaus was one of five teams to scored an even or better team score. The Warriors tallied an even 288. Cal State Monterey Bay, the CCAA champion, took a 9-under 279 and a four-shot lead over Western Washington. Smith finished with two birdies out of the last three holes for the four-under score.

Rob Damschen closed out the front nine with two birdies and played even par golf the entire back nine to come in at one-under. The meet continues today at The Home Course.
