Fire strike team from Modesto area returns from Ventura

Members of the regional Office of Emergency Services fire strike team came back Sunday afternoon after assisting with the Camarillo Springs wildfire over the weekend.

A team of 21 firefighters from OES Strike Team 4800A — engines from the Modesto, Stanislaus Consolidated, West Stanislaus, Winters and University of California at Davis fire departments — went to Ventura County to help with the fire Friday morning.

The team acted as a reserve unit and assisted around camp. Cooler weather over the weekend allowed crews to better contain the fire, and the team no longer was needed.
