Bring back roller skating rink in Modesto

May 5, 2013

I started roller skating at Roller King about 36 years ago. My youngest son would go with me on family night until he thought he was getting too old to go skating with mom. Then I would go by myself.

I talked a friend into going and she actually suggested we would save money if we bought skates, so we did. When she stopped going, I continued. When I retired, I could go on Wednesday mornings, which was great.

When the rink closed, I was very disappointed. It was a great way to keep me moving and was very relaxing. Roller skating is a good, clean, healthy sport for young people and old folks.

The offices that replaced Roller King are still empty. What a waste. We need a roller skating rink in Modesto.

My skates are in the trunk of my car, waiting to go for a spin.
