SOCIETY FOR HANDICAPPED CHILDREN AND ADULTS: Day on the Farm, June 22
NEEDED: Volunteers 15 and older to assist and encourage children and serve as "buddies" with the various activities throughout the farm. The event introduces children with disabilities, ages 4-17 (and kids at heart), to activities typically seen on a working ranch. Additional help is needed at each of the activity stations. Volunteers will receive an orientation from 8 to 9 a.m., help with setup, interact with their buddies 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and assist with clean up. All volunteers must complete an application, and volunteers over age 18 must pass a background check. This event will take place at the Jim Sanchez Ranch in Oakdale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

CENTER FOR HUMAN SERVICES
NEEDED: Volunteers 13 to 17 are needed to serve as defense and prosecution attorneys, jury members, bailiffs and court clerks. The Youth Court process offers first-time juvenile defendants who have admitted responsibility for their offense an opportunity to have their case heard by a jury of their peers with an adult volunteer judge experienced in juvenile law presiding. Adult volunteers 18 and older who are knowledgeable about the law are needed to act as judges to preside over the court and serve as mentors to assist volunteer attorneys with trial preparation.

NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older are needed to help provide food and clothing to needy individuals and families weekdays. Warehouse volunteers pick up, receive, sort, and distribute food to clients; Food Pantry volunteers interview clients, offer support and referrals, bag grocery orders, and stock shelves; and clothes closet volunteers sort clothing and assist in the community clothes closet. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. depending on the volunteer position. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, 16 to 17 with an adult and be able to lift at least 25 to 40 pounds.

YOUTH FOR CHRIST CENTRAL VALLEY
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older or 17 years for school based mentoring are needed to make a difference in the life of an at-risk child. Multiple mentoring opportunities are available for adult volunteers. Mentoring programs include: Academic tutoring for fourth to 12th grade; Tapestry, a neighborhood-based youth church, provides mentoring in the reality of everyday life; Teen Parents educates and nurtures pregnant and parenting adolescents; and Juvenile Justice Ministry, offering Sunday chapel services and weekly Bible studies at the juvenile hall, provides positive interaction with caring adults in one-to-one mentoring. Hours are typically after school or on the weekend. Volunteers must complete application, interview, orientation, and training process, provide references, pass a background check, and commit to volunteering at least four hours per month for twelve months depending upon program.

STANISLAUS ANIMAL SERVICES AGENCY
NEEDED: Volunteers 16 and older are needed to socialize, exercise, and care for adoptable animals and assist the public with adoptions at the shelter. Flexible shifts are available Monday-Saturday between 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Foster Care volunteers provide a nurturing home for kittens and/or puppies until they are ready for adoption. All volunteers must have a basic knowledge of animal care and animal handling experience, complete application process, and attend the next orientation scheduled on May 15 at 5:30 p.m.
