Rawhide top Nuts in 12th inning

May 2, 2013

— The Modesto Nuts' second mistake of the game Thursday night proved to be their most costly.

The Visalia Rawhide took advantage of a fielding error by Nuts outfielder Juan Crousset in the bottom of the 12th inning to score Tom Belza from second and win the game 5-4 and complete a three-game sweep.

Belza singled to lead off the Rawhide' 12th inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Modesto intentionally walked the next hitter, Raul Navarro, to set up the double play.

That's when pinch-hitter Kerry Jenkins singled to right field, where Crousset mishandled the ball, allowing Belza to score the winning run.

The Nuts (9-18) have lost eight in a row, including back-to-back three-game sweeps at the hands of the San Jose and Visalia.
