Fuzio in Modesto schedules Tylor Crippen dinner fund-raiser

— Fuzio Universal Bistro on Monday will donate 20 percent of all dinner sales to the Tylor Crippen Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Crippen, 18, was killed Jan. 29 in Creekwood Park in southeast Modesto after a group of men tried to rob him at knifepoint. He and his girlfriend were walking through the park when they were attacked.

Crippen graduated from Johansen High School in 2012 and was taking classes at Modesto Junior College to become a nurse.

The memorial fund will sustain a $500 annual scholarship for a Johansen High senior who wants to become a nurse.

This year, it also helped pay for a bench that will be installed in mid-May that includes a plaque honoring Crippen.

Twenty percent of dinner sales at Fuzio on Monday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. will go to the memorial fund. The restaurant is at 1020 10th St. in Modesto.
