Shooting in Livingston leaves one dead, one hurt

April 26, 2013

— A 25-year-old man was killed and an 18-year-old man was injured during a drive-by shooting Thursday night in Livingston, police said.

The shooter remains at large. The incident was reported just before 8 p.m. in the 1300 block of E Street. Police say a car carrying three males and a female traveled by and one of the car's occupants shot the two men. The older man received fatal injuries, while the 18-year-old was taken to a local hospital, according to Lt. Chris Soria.

The motive remains under investigation, but police said a fight was reported around 6:48 p.m. at the scene. The combatants separated, but the shooter returned later and shot the victims. Police said the shooter's car is a newer model gray Nissan with chrome rims.

The death was the first homicide reported in Livingston this year, and the ninth in Merced County.
