Nuts' offensive woes continue

April 25, 2013

— The Modesto Nuts have scored only 73 runs through their first 21 games, the lowest offensive output thus far in the California League.

The trend continued Thursday night.

The Nuts put together only seven hits as San Jose pulled away in the late innings for a 6-2 victory in the rubber game of the series at Municipal Stadium. The Nuts and Giants travel to Thurman Field tonight to start another three-game set.

Modesto missed chances in the first and seventh innings. An RBI single by David Kandilas in the first and a solo home run in the eighth by Taylor Featherston comprised the Modesto attack.

Starter Tyler Anderson pitched five strong innings and exited with the game tied at 1-1 before San Jose feasted on the Nuts bullpen.
