Peddlers Faire

The Historic Knights Ferry Gold Country Peddlers Faire returns this weekend, featuring antiques, collectibles, crafts and more than 100 dealers. The event is presented by the Knights Ferry History & Museum Associates in cooperation with Stanislaus River Parks.

Milkshake Band

The Grammy-nominated children's music group the Milkshake Band heads to the Gallo Center for the Arts tonight to play a show. Influenced, according to its website, by everyone from Rodgers and Hammerstein to John Lennon and Paul McCartney to The White Stripes, the Milkshake Band has been creating music for the preschool and elementary school set for the past decade. The group's songs have been featured on PBS Kids and Discovery Kids television shows. Its latest CD, "Got a Minute?" was released in March and features songs that are each just two minutes long and attempt to appeal to children from toddler to 'tween.

Senior Spotlight

An annual showcase of regional performers, the Senior Spotlight Talent Show, returns this weekend to the State Theatre in downtown Modesto. The show features adult performers and again will be produced by Grace Lieberman, a veteran local actress and singer, former executive director of the Stanislaus Arts Council and longtime advocate of the arts in Modesto.

Cappella Palooza!

Choral groups from seven area colleges and high schools will perform at "Cappella Palooza!" this weekend at the Gallo Center. The new community event is believed to be the first of its kind in the region. Schools participating in the festival include California State University, Stanislaus, and Modesto Junior College, along with Enochs, Johansen, Pittman, Downey and Turlock high schools.

Sandi Patty

Christian singer Sandi Patty's amazing four-octave voice has helped her win 39 Dove Awards and five Grammys. She will bring her old favorites, some new songs and possibly a couple of Broadway tunes to her concert of inspirational music tonight at the Gallo Center for the Performing Arts.

Wild things

After a lifetime spent with animals, "Jungle" Jack Hanna knows seeing is believing — and caring. The director emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and frequent talk-show staple is known as America's favorite zookeeper. An ambassador for zoos and wild animals everywhere, Hanna has begun taking his "Jack Hanna Into the Wild Live!" show on the road, along with live animals and talk of his experiences. He'll stop by Saturday at the Gallo Center for the Arts.
