Turlock police arrest man, woman in attempted murder

— Turlock police arrested a man suspected of shooting a man he'd been fighting with Saturday night.

After the argument, which occurred at First and Orchard streets about 7:30 p.m., the victim walked away and the suspect, 53-year-old Jose Coria, left in a car, said Lt. Nino Amirfar.

Minutes later, Coria returned in the car, driven by 20-year-old Linzey Pacheco. Coria again engaged the victim in an argument and then pulled out a handgun and shot at the victim, grazing him in the head with a bullet, Amirfar said.

Officers from Turlock Police Department's street crimes unit pulled up right as Coria got into the car and drove away with Pacheco. Officers pulled over their car a few blocks away.

Coria was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and Pacheco was arrested on suspicion of destroying evidence and possession of narcotics.

The victim was treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening.

Anyone who may have seen the incident or has additional information is asked to contact Turlock Police Department Detective Amy Beebe at (209) 668-5550, ext. 6629. People can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 and may be eligible for a reward.
