— Modesto is offering two classes for people interested in becoming lifeguards. The first class will lead to lifeguard certification, and the second class will provide additional, state-required training, known as Title 22.

Both are required to work as a lifeguard in California. The certification training will take place in May, and the Title 22 training in June. The cost is $225 for the certification training and $75 for the Title 22 training.

Registration is available at the city's Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods office at 1010 10th St., Suite 4400, or at www.modestogov.com/econnect.
