Help sought for homeless veterans event

Organizers of the Stanislaus County Homeless Veterans Stand Down scheduled for September are seeking help. The stand-down, sponsored by Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 316 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26, will be held Sept. 19-21 at the American Legion Hall, 1001 S. Santa Cruz Ave., in Modesto.

It is for all homeless, female and at-risk veterans from Stanislaus, Merced, Mariposa, Tuolumne and San Joaquin counties. Services provided will include dental, vision, hearing and medical care; court assistance with child support; DMV; EDD; and Social Security. Hot meals and showers will be available for all homeless veterans. Clothing and hygiene supplies will be distributed. Other resources will be available at the event.
