Trial for defendant in Turlock stabbing case postponed

April 18, 2013

— A judge has postponed a trial for a defendant accused of stabbing to death a 25-year-old man five years ago in Turlock

A trial was scheduled to start Tuesday for Nicholas John Harris, who has been charged with murder and arson in connection with the death of Mark Anthony Henson.

His defense attorney, however, is in the middle of another murder trial and has another upcoming trial this spring, so the judge was forced to delay Harris' case.

The stabbing occurred Aug. 12, 2008.

Henson had been stabbed several times and knocked on a door in the 500 block of Bennington Avenue, asking for help when authorities found him shortly after 1 a.m., Turlock police have said. Henson's car was found burning nearby.

He was taken to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, where he died from his injuries.

The judge scheduled Harris to return April 29 to reschedule his trial in Stanislaus County Superior Court.

The defendant remains in custody.
