DENAIR — The Denair Unified School District board will meet this afternoon in closed session to discuss hiring an interim superintendent, then again on Thursday night for its regular meeting, when the contract will come up for a vote.
In today's 3:30 p.m. closed session, the board also is expected to discuss possible dismissal or discipline of an unspecified employee. That and the superintendent search are the only things on today's agenda.
Board members will return for more closed-door discussions on those topics and union negotiations before their regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Thursday's meeting will start with recognition of Denair Middle School students who took part in the Academic Pentathlon, Math Blast and Science Olympiad.
Denair Unified's financial adviser will present an update, as will short-term Interim Superintendent Carol Hammond.
Trustees will vote on the long-term interim superintendent contract, presented in the agenda without name or salary amount, and a 2012-13 revised teacher contract. The contract changes give those laid off first pick by seniority for hourly work with Denair's independent study charter. The revision does not change salaries for this school year.
The board is also expected to accept Chief Business Official Judy Sylvester's September retirement, with her last day of work May 8.
Both meetings will be held in the district board room, 3460 Lester Road, Denair. Find exhibits and agendas at http://bit.ly/DenairUnified.
