Thackery at Black Oak
Blues guitarist Jimmy Thackery takes his music to the Black Oak Casino stage tonight.
Thackery, known for his explosive blues guitar performances, co-founded blues-rock ensemble the Nighthawks in 1972, then began touring with Jimmy Thackery and the Assassins in the mid-1980s. Now performing as Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers, his latest album, "Feel the Heat," was released in 2011.
Thackery's show begins at 9 p.m. in the Willow Creek Lounge at Black Oak, seven miles east of Sonora in Tuolumne. Admission is free. For more, call (877) 747-8777.
Acoustic rock show in downtown
The Acoustic Rock Society presents a show next weekend at the Lower Level Studio in Modesto, featuring local singer Marirose Powell and more, along with art on display.
The all-ages concert will gather artists and bands Marirose & Friends, Quig & the Bonz, Dandelion Massacre and Heaven Burtch. Art by Mark Holden, Jim Christiansen and others will be on display.

Rodeo alternative set for Oakdale
Billed as "something else to do on rodeo weekend" in Oakdale, the Spring Festival at Bloomingcamp Ranch will be held April 13-14 (the same weekend as the annual Oakdale Rodeo).
Offered as a place to go after the rodeo or instead of it, there will be food, games, craft booths, a petting zoo and more. The festival will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bloomingcamp Ranch, 10528 Highway 120. Call (209) 848-0461.
