Fatal crash south of Patterson

ELIAS FUNEZ/efunez@modbee.com Emergency first responders closed off a portion of Hwy 33 Saturday morning (03-30-13) between Marshall and Pomelo Avenues south of Patterson, while working at the scene of a fatal accident. TID utility workers were also on hand to repair a series of downed live wires which fell during the accident.

— A fatal crash closed Highway 33 south of Patterson on Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Few details were available by Saturday night on the 10 a.m. accident, which killed at least one person.

The vehicle struck and broke a power pole and downed power lines, closing the highway about a half mile south of Elfers Road. The road was reopened by 12:30 p.m.
