RIPON — Kilo just started on the job, and hes already made his first bust. The Ripon Police Departments narcotics-sniffing dog and his handler, Mike Perry, were called to the 300 block of Lannis Court at 12:18 p.m. Thursday.
Police had been summoned to the scene by people reporting a man who was reportedly picking grass out of cracks in the middle of the street. Ripon officers Mario Ysit and Mindy Morris arrived to find just that.
They contacted the man, identified as Matthew Lee Pierce, 21, of Ripon. Pierce was on probation; a search found him in possession of narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia. Perry and Kilo were called to come help with a search of the vehicle.
They found suspected methamphetamine, heroin and narcotics paraphernalia. Pierce was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges that included possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia.
