My neighborhood agrees with smoke-free parks for various reasons. One is because cigarettes are harmful to children and families that go to parks. Little children might grab a butt and think it's cool to pretend to smoke it.
Some cigarettes aren't even burned out and were still burning. That can cause damage to the area or even to the child playing around smoking it.
If kids are always going to parks and inhaling the second-hand smoke (worse), they can get addicted or get many diseases like lung cancer, emphysema and many others.
