ROOSEVELT SCHOOL TALENT: A student talent show and competition will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Roosevelt Junior High School gym, 1330 College Ave., Modesto. The "Roosevelt's Got Talent" show is coached by Annalisa Winberg and Roy Stevens of AmazingVox School Residencies and funded by the Roosevelt after-school program and Modesto City Schools intervention services.
MJC INTERNATIONAL DINNER: International students of Modesto Junior College will offer a taste of their cuisines and cultures at 6 p.m. April 6 in the social hall of Emanuel Lutheran Church, College and Stoddard avenues. The International Club of MJC's annual International Dinner will have the theme Arabian Nights and focus on delicacies from the Middle East and elsewhere. Entertainment will include singing, dancing and cultural displays. Tickets are $10 each, $5 for children younger than 10, available from club members or in the International Student Program Office in the East Campus Student Center. STUDENT LOAN DEBT: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is gathering information on private student loan debt. Members of the public are encouraged to submit comments until April 8 at http://tinyurl.com/consumerfinance-loan-comments. VIRTUAL SCHOOL: California Connections Academy, a virtual public school for kindergarten through 12th grade, is enrolling students for the 2013-14 school year and holding information sessions. The school, which opened this school year, serves Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Santa Clara and Stanislaus counties. Students work at a flexible pace and can expand learning opportunities with the academy's Juilliard eLearning music courses.
