The Turlock Chamber of Commerce held its 13th Annual Ag Scholarship Luncheon on March 11. The purpose of this event is to bring together the local business community and area agricultural-based industries to recognize the economic importance of agriculture and to raise money for scholarships for deserving agricultural students from high schools in Turlock, Denair, Hughson, Hilmar, Waterford and Livingston. This year, 16 outstanding high school seniors received $17,500 in scholarships and Spencer Baptista received $2,000 to attend California State University, Stanislaus.

Since the inception of this event, 207 students have received $151,800 in scholarships and an additional $76,000 has been donated to various educational activities, including the 4-H Farmyard Experience at the Stanislaus County Fair.
