MODESTO -- The sky was threatening much of Wednesday, but it didn't rain much in the Modesto area.
Just 0.08 inches was recorded at the downtown Modesto Irrigation District rain gauge from 10 p.m. Tuesday, dampening streets and driveways as people awoke Wednesday but still leaving the region well behind its normal seasonal averages.
The cloudy sky and dry day made for a nice background at California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock, where members of Theta Chi fraternity began their annual Row-a-Thon.
