-- Some folks in Ceres woke up this morning to a power outage. Or perhaps they didn't wake up, as their clocks weren’t working.

According to the Turlock Irrigation District, power went out in the downtown area at 5:19 a.m. in an area that includes Caswell Avenue, Acorn Lane, and Fifth Street.

The outage affected roughly 100 meters. Power was restored at about 11 a.m.

TID spokesman Herb Smart said it’s not yet clear what caused the Ceres outage. Weather is believed to have caused a brief outage in Keyes overnight. Power went out at 11:45 p.m.; it was restored within about 10 minutes, Smart said.

Otherwise, the storm that moved in Tuesday hasn’t brought the area a lot — the Modesto Irrigation District has recorded roughly .08 of an inch of rain, with TID reporting .04 so far at its Canal Drive weather station.

Updated information on the Ceres outage is available online at www.tid.com/outages.
