-- A Hollister man accused of murder in the shooting death of his co-worker during a fight outside a Modesto bar is scheduled to return to court June 24 for a pretrial hearing.

A judge has scheduled a preliminary hearing to start July 15 for Robert Anthony Moreno. At the end of the hearing, the judge will determine whether there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.

Police say Moreno pulled out a gun during the fight with a group of people in late July, opened fire and inadvertently shot to death his fellow federal officer, Daryl Chargualaf. The men worked as Department of Defense police officers.

Moreno, 30, also has been charged with two counts each of attempted murder and assault with a semiautomatic gun. He remains in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail; his bail is set at $2.9 million.
