The move to stop the sale of assault rifles and restrict their use by those who have them will take its toll. But I question Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein's obsession to ban or alter many other makes and models not yet identified.
One proposal made is to turn automatic rifles and pistols into a slow reloading process with fixed magazines. Another is to limit how much ammunition a person can buy per month.
Adding injury to insult, Senate Democrats want a 5-cent tax on every bullet and to require owners to pay a license fee every year to keep their guns. While politicians attack guns, they're doing nothing to the contributors of violence shown daily on TV, on DVDs and in movie theaters. Shootings, stabbings, slashings and dismemberment have become a normal occurrence. This has to desensitize some people to have no concern for human life and others with mental issues to copy what they're seeing like the school shootings.
But politicians must not see this as a problem; they're more focused on their pay raises.
