Becca Wheeler of Oakdale and Kenia Guillen of Salida have been selected to participate in the 2013 Miss Teen Sacramento/Stockton competition April 7.
According to a news release, the girls will be competing for "prizes and specialty gifts" in the Miss Teen Division. The contestants are evaluated on modeling routines of casual wear and formal wear, as well as on personality and interview skills.
Yulisma Lomeli, homecoming queen at Davis High School, is a finalist in the California Homecoming Queen program to be held April 7 in Anaheim, according to a news release. She will compete for a cash scholarship and a paid trip to the national finals of the America's Homecoming Queen program.
Yulisma is the daughter of Maria A. Barocio and Miguel Lomeli of Modesto.
The Oakdale High Academic Decathlon team captured second place in Division II in the state competition held in Sacramento last weekend, according to a press release.
It was the first time since 2008 that a Stanislaus County team has placed in the state competition. That year it was again Oakdale High competing for the county, taking third place in Division II.
According to the press release, the team won 16 medals in the four-day event. Madison Lane was the top scorer overall for Oakdale, which represented Stanislaus County.
Oakdale placed 11th overall out of 65 teams competing in the state event.
