Resolving assault rifle debate

March 19, 2013

A possible solution for the conflict over assault rifles and the Second Amendment may exist.

To own an assault rifle, the owner must enlist in a well-regulated militia. If we engage in another military action, the enlistees can be called to active duty and sent into combat with their assault rifles.

Instead of being criticized, they will be rewarded with medals, citations, promotions and the plaudits and gratitude of the people, all this while defending their Second Amendment rights which they insist must be preserved.

There is only one small caveat to this solution: This time the targets get to shoot back and many times will shoot first.
